Cemetery Walking Tour

From AUD $34.00
  • Duration: 2 Hours (approx.)
  • Location: Harristown, Queensland

This two-hour walking tour of one of Queensland’s oldest surviving cemeteries brings the Toowoomba region’s incredible history to life.

This isn’t a ghost tour: Tall tales simply aren’t needed when the real lives and deaths of locals reveal gripping stories of hardships and hangings, triumph and tragedy, ingenuity and innovation, mischief and murder.

Along with unearthing the stories of some fascinating people who rest in the Drayton & Toowoomba Cemetery, the tour will explore cemetery symbolism, craftsmanship, and funeral and burial practices of a bygone era.

Due to the graphic nature of some of the history discussed, children under 12 are discouraged.

- This tour traverses uneven ground, grassed areas, and narrow pathways. By their nature, cemeteries include tripping hazards such as graves, grave markers, and vegetation.

- Flat, enclosed shoes are a must. Consider bringing a water bottle. Dress for the outdoors: tours will go ahead in the rain as long as there is no lightning.
